Hello everyone! I hope that your new year is going well so far. We are not that far into it, but things are changing fast for us.
We are moving into a new home!! I am so excited. It is absolutely beautiful and spacious. Finally each of our wonderful children will have their own room and their own bathroom. That will be really nice. I am especially excited about being able to use the bathroom without one of my children just walking in without any warning.
I am sure they will track me down.
Follow up:
Ms. Maxie is already so excited she can hardly contain herself. She will finally be able to play with all of her toys without having to much interference from Sir Dantes (aka: Esmond). To many times she will be trying to play and sir dantes knocks something down or tries to take her toys. She got a new play kitchen for her birthday and Sir Dantes broke it using it as a ladder to reach the dvds. He also has chewed up some of her utensils.
Sir Dantes will also be able to play without her getting into the middle of his activities. If he is playing trains it is not long before Maxie takes one of his toys and you would think that all hell just broke loose. It can send him into one of his screaming tantrums and head banging.
I know it won't end all together, but it will certainly help to reduce the episodes. But, as always because I am a worrier by nature, I have my reservations.
First, Esmond has never had his own room. I am hoping the adjustment time will be quick and painless. Sometimes he crawls up into Maxie's bed to sleep with her. It is sweet. They look like little angels. I think it comforts him when he's having a hard time falling to sleep. Secondly, he won't be able to see anybody else at night. Right now if he looks out the bedroom door, me and daddy at right across the hall and he can see us in the bed.
At the same time, I won't be able to see into his room during the night. This bothers me some. He's getting bigger and I am sure it won't be to long before he figures out how to crawl over the gate. He's already, as I mentioned, making the toys into ladders and step stools to reach things up high. I wonder if he gets out if he'll come to us first or just decide to explore?
One of our therapist was telling my husband today that many of these children get up in the middle of the night and proceed to just tear up the house. Many of them end up on medication to keep them asleep, but we really want to avoid medications.
I am not so worried yet that he may go outside because he seems to be ocd about the doors being closed. Whenever one of the doors to go outside is open, he closes it. I open it, he closes it...I open it, he closes it. Plus the house has an alarm system with a motion detector.
I am sure we will all adjust well just as we have to the other challenges that have presented themselves along the way. It is just another chapter in his growing up. But, it may be a few months before get a full nights sleep.
Take Care,
Sherri
