  • Welcome to the personal autism blog at Autism Epicenter. This is a digital online diary (and more) written directly by parents of children with ASD as we deal with the triumphs and challenges of raising children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Two people post here, both parents of different families, both dealing with autism.

With this blog you are gaining access into a whole new world. If you're parenting a child with ASD yourself, then you can relate. If you're not, maybe this will help you gain an understanding of what parents go through. Either way, welcome to our world!

We have two kids on the spectrum and when we moved last summer it was really tough. Tough on them, tough on us. We tried to make it easy by showing them social stories before the move but it was such a drastic change (interstate move) that nothing made a difference. Oh well. Here we are almost 9 months later and the new house has become our new NORMAL.

Sleep is something I take for granted at times. Sounds like you cherish every minute of sleep you get. I wonder is that an average night at your house?

Enjoy the house, and hopefully having a room of his own and getting used to the new house will be the ticket to Sir Dantes AND YOU getting more sleep!

Thanks for sharing!

normally, the children are asleep and we are in bed to watch "the daily show" at ten. i am up around a quarter of six to start getting ready for work. the children usually wake up about seven, a little before i leave.

but...lately...we finally had a "du?" moment the other night and starting turning off sir dantes light off at the fan so when he flips the switch the light will stay off. so, he has stopped flipping the switch. but, he really isn't going to sleep at his "normal" time. but the last two nights he has gone down before eleven.

thanks, both of you for your kind words. i love my sleep! every since i was little i have been one of those people that need my eight hours so these couple of weeks have been rough. maybe, just maybe, it won't take so many months.
