hello everyone! hope that you are having a cool night! good lord, it is hot and humid here in tennessee. some rain would be really nice about now.
now, i will warn you...this post is a bit embarrassing, especially being a lady. but, because it helped me to know something about sir dantes i shall share it.
Follow up:
there are times throughout the day when i need a little privacy in the bathroom with the vent on. usually in the morning when everyone is still asleep and i am getting ready for work; and sometimes later in the day when i have come home from work. now, as a mom i am use to not getting much privacy. it is not uncommon for one of the children to come in and out of the bathroom. sometimes ms. maxie says she will keep me company and tell me a story!
well, lately sir dantes will come in and turn off the vent fan switch and then run away. i will turn it back on and within a few seconds he runs back in and turns it off. i tell him "NO" and turn it back on. he turns in back off. i turn it back on and then he starts screaming and runs off.
so this afternoon i came home from work and needed a little "privacy" in the bathroom. i turned on the vent and, sure enough, here comes little sir dantes to turn off the fan. he runs off and then i turn the fan back on. within second he comes back to turn the fan off, but this time something different happened!
he turned it off and looked at me and signed "thank you, thank you"! i left it off. he obviously was telling me that the sound was hurting his ears. all these times he ran off screaming i thought it was because he was being mad because i said no. when in reality, i know now it was hurting his ears.
a new sensory issue has been discovered.
although not a pretty way of finding out, i felt the need to share it because we, as parents of autistic children, need to be observant in every situation to know what our sweet children need.
